The Empty Bowls Project is an international initiative to help feed the hungry. The Friendship Center sponsors The Empty Bowls event locally, on Saturday, October 6th, to support our Highlands Food Pantry. The Food Pantry serves over 4000 individuals and over 1000 families annually, and unfortunately the numbers continue to grow each year. The pantry has seen a 45% increase over the past three years.
Guests at the Empty Bowls event are invited to enjoy a simple meal and take their handcrafted bowl home as a timely reminder of the needs of the world. The money raised is used to support our Food Pantry and helps to alleviate food insecurity locally. The Presbyterian Church of Highlands hosts the event annually and local churches get involved by assisting in ticket sales.
Tickets can be purchased through this website, at the International Friendship Center, Presbyterian Church of Highlands and Highlands United Methodist Church. Tickets are $25 and includes a simple meal of soup and you take your handcrafted bowl home.
If you are unable to attend the event but would like to help those living and working locally who are hungry please join the effort and make a donation today!
